Sade Sati & frightening period Saturn Is it necessary to get afraid of Sade Sati??? Gaurav Ghosh Om Nilanjanachaya prakhyam ravisunum Mahagraham| Chhayayaagarbha sambhutam, bande bhaktya shanaishcharam|| The Theory
Sade Sati is that phase when planet Saturn, is placed in the 12th from the Moon Sign, in the Moon Sign & the sign next to Moon sign of the native. This whole period is a journey of 7 ? years, as Saturn takes 2 ? years to travel each sign. Contemporary Beliefs In Puranas, Shastras, Saturn has been associated to be ?super malefic? than all other malefic planets. So, Saturn?s phase of ?Sade Sati? has to be related to any malefic results. Such says, most the contemporary astrologers, that the native who is running through Sade Sati, will earn defamation, ill luck & failures in all spheres of life. The health will suffer; there will be additional expenses, which might even ruin the subject concerned. Another combination has come up, is ?Dhaiya?, meaning ?Two & half?. This means Saturn?s position in Kendras from Moon Sign during Transits. As I said that Saturn travels each sign of zodiac for 2 ? years, so when Saturn occupies Kendras (1, 4, 7, 10) from Moon sign, one is said to suffer from such phenomenon. Saturn?s aspects are 3,7,10 from the sign it?s placed, so if Saturn is posted in any of the Kendras, he will be either aspecting the Moon Sign or be posted in the Moon sign, thus bringing distress to the native. Saturn:-Its origin & why such fright???
We all know more or less about the birth of Saturn. It is said that once, Samjgya, wife of Sun, could not bear the fierce rays of Sun & so she turned herself into Shadow (Chaaya). Sun, knowingly, mated with her & gave birth to a dark coloured son. As soon as he was born, Sun went into eclipse. When Sun was reported about the birth of his Sun, considered him to be illegitimate & didn?t accept him as his son. Saturn, thus turned against his father, & started doing Penance (Tapasya), after marriage. It was once during Tapasya, that when his wife called him, he didn?t even look at her, for which her wife cursed him, that from now onwards, whenever you look at anyone, his future will be damned. Saturn or Shani, did severe penance, propitiated Lord Shiva & got the status of planet. Lord Shiva arranged the forest ?Mahakala? for him & blessed him that while staying in each Rasi, he will cause trouble to the native & that will be is ?food?. There is another reference that it was due to Saturn?s look, the face of Lord Ganesh, was burnt. Saturn is lord of basal things & metals in this world. Once King Janaka invited 9 planets & placed mats made of gold, silver, pearls etc. for 9 planets. All Planets except, Saturn sat on their respective seats, which they Lord. Only the sit made of iron was left. Saturn could realise the intention of King Janaka. He got terribly angry, that as you have given me such a basal seat, I proclaim that I will be only planet to travel each house for longer periods. According to Kalikapurana, tears of Mahadeva, after the death of Parvati, have turned Saturn ?black?. Mahanirvana Tantra says that Saturn is blind & lame. All these scriptural references have created a ?BAD? impression about Saturn/ Shani, also it helped to cook things like Sade Sati, Dhaiya or Ashtam Sani. Prediction of Events-Dasa Results & Transits Never any astrologer said that the results of Transits have to supersede the Dasa results. Rather, the Transits are given very little importance for predicting events. Not only that, the transit of a single planet should never be judged alone, but other relevant details must be kept in mind before coming into a conclusion. It is known to all, that during Transit (Gochara), the odd results due to Transit of any planet will minimise if there is Chandra Shuddhi. Rather, one will say that good results will be felt due to that transit. In the Ancient Classics, it is said, that since the Transits give results according to the Moon sign of the native, so if the Moon during the Transit is beneficial for the native, then definitely, the good results will be felt, even if the placement is ominous. Again, good results will be felt, if during Transits, the Natal Moon sign is aspected by a benefic. So, before coming into conclusion about Sade Sati, one should see that whether during Transits, there was Chandra Shuddhi or whether Natal Moon receives benefic aspects. If any of them clicks, then definitely, the results will be good, even if it is case of Sade Sati. Again Vedhas should be seen before drawing any conclusion. As per Ashtavarga dictum, from Jataka Parijata or from Brihat Parasara Hora Sastra, the results of Transits may even change. Again, if planets are well placed in the Natal Birth Chart, then the results of transits of concerned planets will be good. Same rule applied for Sade Sati. Not withstanding that, if the Lagna & Lagna Lord, 9th house & its Lord, 10th house & its Lord & Atmakarak are strong in Natal Chart, or creating Raj yogas, while a good dasa is going on, then definitely, the Sade Sati, will hardly have any bad results to give. The Practical No theory cannot be accepted until there are any valid practical explanations/references. Case I
Birth Chart of the Native Transit Chart As you can see, this native was born in Sade Sati itself (Moon in Scorpio & Saturn in Libra, i.e. on 12th house from Moon). He was born with sound health. There was some trouble to the native like illness during the first 3 years, as Saturn gets 8 malefic dots in Libra, while in Scorpio it gets 5 malefic points. However, good result was seen when Saturn entered Sagittarius where it gets 6 benefic points. The chart on the right side is a Transit chart of the same native. As from the birth chart, in Saturn?s Ashtavarga, it gets 6 benefic dots in Gemini. When Saturn entered Gemini, the native enjoyed all kind of Luxuries, excellence in studies & gains. Thus Dhaiya or Ashtam Sani hardly could do any harm to the native. However, Saturn?s entry to Cancer caused some problems, where it gets 8 malefic dots. Case II I have a very bad habit of giving examples of famous people. However, the first one was of an infamous person. This one is of the Noble Laureate Ravindranath Tagore.
Birth Chart of Rabindranath Tagore His First Sade Sati:-1875-1882---Nothing major event occurred, & he was young too. His
Second Sade Sati: February 1905 to May
1912
Major Events during this period: He wrote more 30 books during this period, including short stories, poems, drama, novels & short compositions. Among these, Gitanjali was also written during this period, which fetched him the Noble prize. He also took part in the Partition of Bengal, establishing Santiniketan in Bengal during this Time. During this time, the Operating dasa was of Moon, a Yogkarak for Meen Lagna. The positive event that took place in this Sade Sati is endless. However, he lost his son during Sade Sati.
His
Third Sade Sati: - March, 1934 to June 1941 Major events during this period: During this time, Tagore wrote more than 45 books. During this time, he travelled to Ceylon with his group for drama. In Kashi Hindu University, he delivered lecture during their convocation ceremony & was honoured with D.Litt. Also he visited South India, Lucknow, and Lahore during this time. He received donations from Mahatma Gandhi during this period for Shantiniketan & also he was invited to deliver a lecture in the Convocation Ceremony of Calcutta University---this was the first instance where, a ?private? person was invited & was honoured. To add, he was also honoured by Oxford University with D.Litt. However, his health started worsening, but he didn?t die during Sade Sati. Case III Let?s
see how Sade Sati affected the Father of the Nation, viz., Mahatma Gandhi.
He was born in Karka Rashi while some others claim it to be Simha Rashi
(B. V. Raman for example).
Birth chart of Mahatma Gandhi The First Sade Sati
From August 1916 to
November 1920, Saturn was posted in Cancer & Leo. During this period,
Gandhiji came back to India from South Africa, & took active participation
in the Khilafat Movement against the British Raj. He also became the
leader of Congress during this period, & took active role in various
movements to shake the British Raj.
Transit Chart The Second Sade Sati
Again Saturn entered
Cancer in the month of September in the year 1945 & left Leo in 1950.
During this period, Gandhiji?s dream was fulfilled; however he was
assassinated during this period.
Transit Chart Case IV Now we shall discuss about the role of Sade Sati played in Indira Gandhi?s Life.
Indira Gandhi Birth Chart The First Sade Sati It took place when Indira was in her teens & ?tweens?. So no major events during this time The Second Sade Sati
Time: - From November 1958
to April 1966 Events: During this period, she gained success in politics, became a minister & during the last phase of Sade Sati, she became the prime minister of the country---a dream of a successful politician was accomplished.
Transit Chart
Case V Let me deal with another real time chart, to end the case studies.
Birth Chart See, this native was born during the end part of Sade Sati. Now lets, what happened when he was undergoing through the 1st phase of Sade Sati when Saturn entered Cancer in the year 2004.
Transit Chart During this period, he got a great job with loads & loads of money. He started becoming quite successful in his jobs, got a job in U.A.E. where he started earning more than he desired. In one sentence, he felt the height of career during this period.
Dessert---The End Note So, from the aforesaid examples, it is quite obvious that results of Dasa-Antardasa are primary, while results of Transits should be analysed properly, before drawing any conclusion. We don?t wish to give any primary importance to Sade-Sati or Transit results. Lord Narayan takes the form of nine planets & we experience the results of the good & bad periods through dasas-antardasas only, which might slightly alter due to transits. So, ?THERE IS NO NEED TO WORRY ABOUT SADE-SATI RESULTS, & DON?T WASTE YOUR MONEY BEHIND REMEDIES OF SADE-SATI?.
