Pains of an astrologer - 2

Different People, Different Approach & Different Results

There are a lot of approach for reading & seeing your future in this world. For example in Hindu (Or Vedic) Astrology as you will say, see the different approach --Parasari, Jaimini, Shreepati --- then comes Nadi system of prediction (which in North India known as "BhriguSamhita"), Krishnamurthy Paddhati (now there is also a variation, Modified Krishnamurthy Paddhati), Yogi & yoga point type of analysis by HR Sheshadri Iyer, Tantrik, Palmistry (added to it is Saamudra Vichaar based on various signs & marks in the body)--- now these many systems are there to follow. What happens when one contradicts other?

It again becomes painful for the astrologer & the astrologer is led astray.  Whom to ask for confirmation??? Eventually results differ from one astrologer to another?? There are some blindfold belief in our subject, which limits us to go deeper into subject & churn out the gist. Now the native doesn't know who is right or who is wrong?? Ultimately blames all astrologer & starts running from astrologer to another.

Remedies

Shree K N Rao once rightly said that today Jyotish is all about 80% Upayas (which you call Pariharam in South India or in English "Remedy") & 20% pure astrological predictions. We should keep in mind that remedies bring only a certain amount of relief. The native doesn't become free from his/hers Karmaphal. He has to suffer from it, no matter how many crores of rupees he spends for remedies. For a remedy to work effectively, one needs to pray to God with heart & soul. This is what matters in remedial aspect of Astrology.

Previously, I used to consider gemstones as an effective remedy & I used to advocate gems for remedies as well, but now I understand with earnest prayer to the Almighty one can change the course of action, not gems as it is nothing but some dust particles to the almighty.

However, remedies are not for all reasons. Astrologers cannot guarantee that everyone will go abroad. If someone doesn't have luck to go abroad, how does he expect a positive reply telling that he will go abroad. What remedy can be given to one to go abroad??? People consider that every problems have a remedy. Sometimes the remedy are available to us, & we fail to recognize. Its like carrying a lantern & looking for fire from door to door.

Ayanamsha

This is another riddle. Which ayanamsha needs to be followed?? I came to know from a friend that there are around 100 unregistered Ayanamsha in India & around 40 registered Ayanamsha in India. People, when find the ayanamsha working in few charts, they consider that to be the best. This test is basically done with past events, however. They don't test this with future predictions & that needs to be done. Again some people consider that by indicating some past events, the native might gain confidence in the astrologer; partially true, but what about future, if it doesn't click? Even astrologers fight amongst themselves on which one to follow; it is like claiming that my watch is showing the right time, while your show the wrong one!

I follow Chitrapaksha Ayanamsha. Now I will give you an example to establish the reason for using it.

This chart has been casted using Chitrapaksha ( or Lahiri, as you may call it). This native had a terrible time throughout her Saturn Mahadasa & Jupiter  Antardasa, which was from 29th August, 2006 till March8th, 2009. The rest of the period will also be terrible. See, Jupiter is in 12th Bhava, in Mercury's sign. Generally, by default, Jupiter doesn't give blessing results, unless some other factors are attached to it. Now this Jupiter being in 12th house as Atmakarak is good for spirituality, however the same Jupiter is in 12th from Navamsha Lagna, indicates some troubles in marital life. Mars, being the 7th & 2nd lord, aspects Jupiter from the 6th house, showing some form of disappointments & disturbances.

Now, you can also see that its in 12th from Navamsha Lagna. Result-- Her husband got into extra-marital affairs during that dasa, which was discovered in September, 2007. I told her once to do some Shiva Pujan as her Jupiter Bhukti started. If she had done, results would not have been devastating.

Let's see the same chart in Chandra Hari's Ayanamsha

If you feed in the details of the native selecting the required, you will never find that the period was odd in marital aspect. The Operating dasa was Saturn Dasa, Rahu Bhukti when her surgery occured. In Chandrahari ayanamsha it seems to be impossible. Husband's extra marital affair was discovered in Jupiter Bhukti, but it started from 23rd August, 2007----the affair actually started from 2006. There are a lot of catch in using such ayanamsha, which we can't discuss here, to keep this article short simple.

My understanding of application of an ayanamsha that it should work fine with any chart; unlike ashtottari dasa which is applicable for people born at night in shukla paksha & born during daytime in krishna paksha & rahu should be in kendras/konas from the Lagna lord (except being in Lagna) etc.

I am ready to accept an ayanamsha, provided one can prove its applicability.

Feedback--- Bad & Good

We astrologers always crave for feedback. Its more than asking for consultancy fees. We have to accept that we are not Gods that whatever we will utter, will come true; we are normal human beings, who are susceptible to make mistakes in reading charts.

We read astrology either through a jyotish guru or by reading books & then venture in this business. As we get feedback, it helps us to check our standing, how perfect we are in prediction, is their potential for us to be a better predictor???What areas do I need to improve upon to be a perfect in this subject? Attimes we get to miss some important things while going through a chart, which we discover when the actual event happens. Yes, I have been victim of such incident many times.

To me, giving prediction, whether free or with a fee, is more than responsibility. An astrologer gets emotionally involved while reading a chart & when the situation is sensitive, he has to followup with the consultee; if the consultee gives the regular feedback, then fine, else its a pain---nothing else.
