My Experiences with Bhrigu In the month of March 2007, I had been to Varanasi the ancient seat of Indian Culture, the major reason was to visit Shree Vishwanath, one of the 12 Jyotirlingams in India. On 9th March afternoon I moved out in search of some astrological books, a net cafe to check my mails & also Bhrigusamhita, of which I heard previously that there is one in Varanasi. It was hard for me to find any astrology bookstore; I moved here & there, but alas!!I couldn't find any!! After checking my mails & chatting with my friends through internet, I started searching for that place where my future was written. It was a bit scaring for me & I was enthusiast as well. After getting few directions from people, I recollected that it must be in Manmandir Ghat of Ganges, in Varanasi (Manmandir-- Observatory). At last I found that place --"Bhrigusamhita Bhavan"!! It was a three storied building, with the gate closed. Above the main door there was a board, which reads the name of the astrologer who has the Bhrigusamhita. I knocked the door & to someone's reply I asked that I would like to meet Shree Dwarakaprasad Sharma & the lady who replied told me to get in. Once I entered, I found a hall, where an old man in his seventies was seated with bundles of books around him. To my question whether he is Dwarakaprasad Sharma or not, he replied that he is the person I am looking for & is the Bhrigusamhita reader. I asked whether he was free to find my horoscope from his bundles, & he replied that he doesn't read any horoscope after 2 pm. My watch read 2:20 pm, which was late. I told him that I would visit him the following day & he gave me a leaflet, which had all the detailed fees for the consultations. On 10th March,2007, around 11 in the morning, I left for Bhrigusamhita Bhavan. On the way to that place, I started recollection the stories of Bhrigu & the story goes as follows :- "It was said that Maharishi Bhrigu insulted Lord Vishnu in false ego of considering himself the greatest Brahmin, but apologised immediately of his mistake and Lord Vishnu forgave him. But Lakshmi(the wealth goddess), wife of Lord Vishnu could not tolerate the insult of her husband. She gave a curse to Maharishi Bhrigu, that he and his community(Brahmins) to which he represents will be parted away from wealth. After apologising from Goddess too, she suggested him to write Bhrigu Samhita which contains predictions. In this way, Brahmins can earn their living by telling past,present and future of people. The Ashram of Maharishi was in present day Hoshiarpur, India. Major part of Bhrigu Samhita was destroyed during Muslim Invasions. Maharishi Bhrigu was the first compiler of predictive astrology. He compiled about 500,000 horoscopes and recorded the life details and events of various persons. This formed a database for further research and study. This study culminated in the birth of the science (shastra) of determining the quality of time (Hora) and is the Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra. These Horoscopes were based upon the planetary positions of the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu (North Node of the Moon) and Ketu (South Node of the Moon). After that, Maharishi Bhrigu gave his predictions on different types of horoscopes compiled by him with the help of Lord Ganesha in a brief and concise manner. The total permutations/possible horoscope charts that can be drawn with this is about 45 million. Maharishi taught this art of predictions to his son (Shukra) and other pupils." When I reached his place, I didn't find him & someone of his family told me to wait inside & take a seat. I waited for him for around 20 minutes when he returned. I informed that I would like to know about my future from his Bhrigusamhita & added that I have my horoscope with me. He told me, "I am waiting for another person, as he was supposed to come, but hasn't arrived yet. Anyways, give me your horoscope", in Hindi. I handed him my horoscope & he drew that in a piece of paper & from a bunch of papers started looking for my horoscope. Once he found my horoscope, he told me that its a discussion between Bhrigu Rishi & his son Shukra about various charts. Then he started reading from the piece of paper, which was written in Sanskrit & he was translating it to Hindi. "The native is fortunate, lucky, best in his clan & family, valorous, courageous & wealthy etc. (I will not comment about all these---upon others to comment.) "As eyes are two, the native will have 1 brother (thus complementing 2 eyes), however, no sister due to ill karmas of father. (Yes I have 1 brother, younger to me). "Wherever, I work, it will be big companies. (True. I worked with brands like HSBC, Grand Hyatt, Mumbai did my training from ITC Hotel Sonar Bangla Sheraton & Towers & ) "There will be interruption in studies from 20-24 years. (True. My education was interrupted for one year after I completed 20). "Sage Shukra asks the reason, to which Sage Bhrigu says that in the previous birth the native was born in North Bengal or Assam, was a wealthy person. However, once didn't pay the due respect to his preceptor's son due to ego. However, I didn't bother about the curse as I was too proud of my wealth, which is the reason for the interruption. (I dont know the reason exactly. However, interruption can be well read from my horoscope, the operating dasa during that time was Mercury-Saturn, & my Siddhamsa chart was a clue to it.) "From 20 to 24 years, mind will be unsteady & whatever initiatives I take will remain incomplete." (Partially true.) "Father will have a lot of difficulties etc & will have ups & downs in his career (True. He had difficulties in his personal life & professional life.) "Father will be very benevolent, devoted etc (I dont agree with all these) "Mother will be very good, kind, benevolent, will suffer from windy diseases, & blood related problems. (True, she suffers from pains & blood pressure). "The native will earn money through intelligence & will be intelligent. He will earn money through foods, mines, metals. (I dont know whether I am intelligent, upon others to comment. Yes, I am interested in foods, as I am studying hotel Management specialising in kitchen as in food production. However, there was no mention of call center, where I was working then. ) "The native will get married when he will be 28-30 years old, with a good & devoted wife, endowed with all good qualities.He will be blessed with a son & a daughter & will live upto the age of 76. (These are matching with what my astrologer said. However, according to my astrologer, I will live upto 84. I am neither sad that I wouldn't live for long, nor happy to find that I will live long. I dont see myself living beyond 2010) "The native will be fortunate once he turns 24 years old." (May be true, I dont know). "The native will die with sons & grandsons around him. Will die peacefully, while taking the name of God, will go to heaven & will take birth again in Bengal. "( I dont want to take birth again. I want this birth to be my last birth) "The native is being suggested to worship Durga which will act as a remedy for all evils in the chart." (I worship Durga during the Chaitra Navaratri & Ashwin Navaratri. Also durga mantra every morning). After the reading session, I gave Rs.101 as his dakshina & left for Ashrama, with lingering thoughts of visiting the Bhrigusamhita in Hoshiarpur. May be they will read my "biography" in detail --- who knows.
